Habitat Passive House
From the outside, Passive House isn't different from others on the street, but this house is Habitat for Humanity's second ever Passive House design on the west coast! Sustainable techniques employed during construction will help a new Habitat family reduce their carbon footprint and heating costs with no sacrifice to comfort or aesthetics.
We partnered with Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity to design Habitat’s second Passive House design on the West Coast. This highly energy-efficient home was designed and built to meet the rigorous standards of the Passive House Institute U.S. (PHIUS). Habitat has incorporated many energy saving features into its projects in recent years to provide affordable housing opportunities for their families. Passive House takes energy savings even further, resulting in reduced monthly costs by as much as 90% compared with homes built to current energy code standards.
